Freshers' frequently asked questions

Where can I ask for advice?

If you don’t know what to do check the study-guide https://opas.peppi.oulu.fi/en/index. If you can’t find the answer there or need more information contact your group's teacher, the Faculty of Education's study counselors or OLO’s board members. Some of your group members might have the same issue, so you can try to find out the solutions together! You might also find answers from Kaski ry’s social media https://www.facebook.com/kaskiry/ and OLO’s social media https://www.instagram.com/olo_ry/  https://www.facebook.com/oulunluokanopettajaopiskelijat/ and website. Minor studies?!

You don’t have to think about minor studies just yet. However, if you would like to find information about them you can look here: https://www.oulu.fi/forstudents/minor-studies

How do I sign up for an exam?

In the Faculty of Education's studies you do not have to sign up for the first exam time. You can redo the exam twice on separate examination days that are common for the whole university. For these you have to sign up on Weboodi. https://www.oulu.fi/forstudents/exams. If you can't attend the date of your exam, remember to cancel your registration for it at least two days in advance. You can find the exam dates and rooms from the study guide.

Practice?

The ITE program is a little bit different to the other teacher students teaching practice-wise. There is one shorter teaching practice first year that is included in one of the courses, so if you just follow your course plan, you don’t have to worry about a separate sign up. In the spring of the second year there is a longer practice that you can do wherever you want and that includes any other country as well! Doing the practice abroad is even recommended for ITE students! You can find more information here: https://www.oulu.fi/edu/practices

Remember that you need a transcript of your criminal record when working with children! https://www.oikeusrekisterikeskus.fi/en/index/services/rikosrekisteri/rikosrekisteritietojenluovuttaminen.html

How do I follow my exam results?

You can find your results from WebOodi. The results will be informed maximum three weeks form the exam or the end of the course.

What do I do if I can’t get the coursework done?
